Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te extended goodwill towards and offered cooperation with Communist China on Sunday following two days of Chinese war games near Taiwan.
China, which claims democratically governed Taiwan as its own territory, carried out scary military drills on Taiwan on Thursday and Friday, calling them "punishment" after Lai's inauguration speech on Monday which called for another push for the island's formal independence.
The European Central Bank (ECB) strongly suggested two months ago it would cut interest rates on June 6, but some analysts have started reducing their expectations for further reductions after stronger-than-expected wages data last week. Investors overwhelmingly believe the ECB will cut its policy rate, which currently stands at a record high for the euro currency 4.0%.
