Highlights

In this business, when something unusual happens, such as yesterday’s assassination attempt on Donald Trump, one must consider if that unusual event will affect grain prices.

There are those that think the assassination attempt guarantees Trump will win the election. We are not so sure about that. After all, except for seven states, we already know which states’ electoral votes will go to Democrats and which ones will go to Trump. All the Democrats have to do to win the presidential election is do what they did in 2020 in a handful of states.

Has anything been done that will guarantee the vote counting will not be stopped at 10 PM on election day and no fake ballots will be delivered 4 hours later to be counted? To say Trump is going to win the election is not a sure thing by any stretch of the imagination.

However, if the market thinks a Trump victory is assured, the grain industry will pound the media every day that there will be another trade war with China and grain and soybean prices will be trashed.
